Clean Canvas were delighted to design the 2011/12 Les Routiers Guide to Britain.
Since it was first seen in Paris in 1935, the Les Routiers sign has traditionally identified hotels, restaurants and bars of individual character, mainly owner managed, offering excellent food, warm hospitality and good value for money. It soon became popular with travelling salesmen, and French and foreign tourists.
Today, the red-and-blue Les Routiers sign has become a cult symbol, standing alongside the Gitanes pack, and the Ricard logo as the essence of French style, and the Routiers’ original concept of a warm homely welcome and excellent hospitality is as strong today as when it was first conceived in the 1930s. In an age of uniformity, fast food and charmless hospitality chains, the members of Les Routiers offer a distinctively different experience.
They are passionate about the qualities of their hospitality and service. Members are made up of a cross section of establishments from hotels, bed & breakfasts and guesthouses, to country houses and several mansions, not to mention the fine dining restaurants, bistros and cafes. They are all “Best of their kind”.
